Alas, a confluence of events has conspired against us and canceled our first meeting. No fear! We’ll try again Thursday, and there’s plenty for you to do between now and then:

1. Read the class syllabus (see menu option above).
2. Get on the scoreboard.
3. Read Part I of Isaac Asimov’s classic Foundation series (this is also in the “files” tab in Canvas) and read it for Thursday. There will be a one-minute, for-reals, 4XP reading check on this reading at the start of class on Thursday.
4. If you haven’t already obtained your copy of Nate Silver’s The Signal and the Noise, obtain it.
5. Begin working on your first coding assignment, for which you need no information from lecture, due on Monday.
